The Transcript Library
How this archive is built

Methodology & Sourcing

The Transcript Library is an independent, ongoing project to build a complete, searchable, word-for-word record of public speeches, remarks, and press briefings. We do not represent any government agency, campaign, or news organization — this is a citizen-built archive, created to make spoken public record as accessible and searchable as written record already is.

How We Source Material

Every entry in this archive begins with a primary source: video or audio of the event as it happened, drawn from official broadcasts, C-SPAN, campaign live streams, press pool footage, or other publicly available recordings. Where an official government or campaign-issued transcript already exists, we reproduce it here for searchability and link to the original. This archive exists specifically to fill the gaps where no such official transcript was ever produced.

Our Transcription Process

For entries without an official transcript, we use a two-stage process designed to balance speed with accuracy:

  1. AI-assisted transcription. Audio is processed using automated speech recognition (Deepgram) to produce an initial verbatim draft.
  2. Human verification. Every AI-generated draft is then reviewed word-by-word against the original recording by a human reviewer, who corrects misheard words, restores inaudible or unclear passages where possible, fixes speaker attribution, and marks any sections that remain genuinely unclear in the source recording.

We do not publish AI output as final. A transcript is only added to the archive once it has passed human review.

What "Verified" Means Here

Each transcript on this site is sourced under one of the following standards:

  1. AI transcription, human-verified — the standard we are working toward for every entry. Produced from primary audio/video, checked in full by a human reviewer against the original recording.
  2. Official transcript — released or published directly by the White House, a campaign, C-SPAN, or another primary institutional source, reproduced here for searchability. We link to the original release wherever possible. These are reproduced exactly as they appear in the official record and have not yet been separately verified by us against the recording.
  3. Third-party transcript, audio cross-checked — a transcript published by an established outside source (such as Roll Call Factbase), compared word by word against the original audio using two independent speech-recognition engines, with every disputed passage settled by a human listening to the recording. Passages that cannot be made out are marked [Inaudible]. These entries are queued for full human verification.
  4. Reference-only / non-transcript source — items where we do not hold a full verbatim transcript, but include as a citation-worthy reference (for example, the "Non-Transcript" Mandate for Leadership editions). These are clearly labeled as distinct from spoken transcripts.

Historical & Pre-Recording Sources

Not every speech in history was captured on video or audio — reliable recorded audio of a sitting U.S. president dates back only to the late 19th century, and consistent full-speech recordings really only begin in the 1940s. For speeches from before recording technology existed, or where no recording survives, entries in this archive are drawn from and cited to primary written sources — official papers, congressional records, contemporaneous newspaper transcriptions, or institutional archives such as The American Presidency Project. These entries are clearly labeled as written record rather than audio/video transcript, since they were never independently verified against a recording.

Corrections

We take transcription accuracy seriously. If you believe a passage has been transcribed incorrectly, or if you have access to a clearer recording, please contact us with the transcript title, approximate timestamp, and your suggested correction. Verified corrections are applied and the transcript's "last updated" date is revised accordingly. Contact: admin@transcribe-library.com

A Note on Neutrality

This archive transcribes remarks exactly as delivered, without commentary, annotation, or editorial framing. Our role is to preserve the record, not to interpret it.

Citing a Transcript

We've built these transcripts to be a reliable resource for researchers, journalists, students, and anyone who needs to reference exact spoken language. Every transcript page includes a "Cite this transcript" panel with ready-to-use MLA, APA, and Chicago citations, pre-filled from that entry's own title, date, and location.

All citations point to our single canonical domain, transcribe-library.com. Our other domains forward here and are not used as separate citable sources, so every citation resolves to one consistent, verifiable page.
